Privacy policy
rec-util is a personal Minecraft recording and YouTube upload utility operated by its owner, Saunak Karnati.
Data accessed and used
The recorder captures the Minecraft window and game audio after macOS permission is granted. The uploader reads completed local videos and chapter metadata, which can include world names, server addresses, and dimension names. It sends recordings, titles, descriptions, and chapter timestamps to YouTube to store the owner’s sessions.
The uploader requests Google’s YouTube permission to upload videos, find or create the “storage” playlist, and add videos to it. That permission is broad; rec-util’s implemented use is recording uploads and playlist organization. Google processes the submitted data under its own privacy policy.
Storage and sharing
Videos and chapter files stay on the owner’s Mac. OAuth client configuration, access and refresh tokens, and upload history are stored locally under the owner’s user account. rec-util has no separate backend that receives these credentials or recordings. Uploads are sent to Google/YouTube. Unlisted videos and playlists can be viewed by people with their links; private videos follow YouTube’s access settings.
rec-util does not sell personal data, use Google data for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Its use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
Local recordings and upload history remain until the owner deletes them. Uploaded videos and playlists remain on YouTube until deleted through YouTube. Deleting a local recording does not delete its uploaded copy. The owner can revoke rec-util’s access in Google Account connections and remove the local token to disconnect the uploader.
